Book review!
Hi Vintage Lovers, it’s Raïssa here!
After my first week at Vintagexplorer, I was asked to read the book: Style Me Vintage, 1940s by Liz Tregenza, and to write a blog with my views! Liz Tregenza is a vintage specialist and historian and has contributed to a number of books.
I personally really like the 1940s style and the cover immediately invites you to read this book. I found a lot of inspiration and the keywords that create a thread throughout the whole book are: Inspirational, practical and fashionable.
What I noticed is that the book is exactly is what you expect from it. When you open it, you see a topic: Make-up, followed by hairstyles and a really extensive fashion guide. Then there are accessories and lingerie, from shoes to the 1940s wedding look, which is really popular at the moment. The combination of old and new pictures makes the differences between the 1940s and 2015 very clear. The book shows how you can perfectly live your life in the 1940s style, which will help you create your own 1940s look. The lovely pictures and layout made this book a very easy one to read.
My favourite tips and tricks were how ladies during the war created their perfect peach-blush, which brands were on the market at that time and what is the difference between their publicity campaigns then and now. As I am studying marketing, this was really interesting!
I really enjoyed it and think that it is a must have for the lovers of the 1940s vintage style! And for ladies who love the vintage lifestyle and want to expand their Vintage vision!
I hope you all can enjoy reading this book!
