First week in England Sherborne!

Dear readers,

This week was very exciting! The journey to England, visiting and working in ‘the Vintagexplorer office’, seeing the hotel for the first time…

I had a really warm welcome at the office! A desk especially for me, with my name on it and totally in the vintage style! The office is very inspirational so I already start working to do a few tasks. A follow up of the contacts from Amsterdam Design Icons, social media, direct mailing in mailchimp and so on…

Sherborne is a really picturesque and authentic village. It is totally the opposite from Antwerp or Oostmalle, where I life. But I can appreciate the calmness and the beautiful nature here! The people are very friendly and very good laughing. We went to the pub for Jez his birthday, and we went to the bakery for some giant homemade pizzas, this with our own bottle of wine! Briefly: we had some good fun this week!

The hotel is very comfortable and cosy. Every week there are a lot of bus coaches, so guaranty: entertainment and artists every evening, this especially for the seniors. It is still difficult to understand the English-seniors humour when they are performing in a Hawaii-uniform…

On Sunday we went to the bug-fest. Together with Alan, Karyn and Daphne, we were looking for some dead bugs, but we did not find any of them. Karyn bought an antique ‘dollhouse’, and wanted to create something with dead bugs... Well, they were all alive and kicking! It was very weird to see all those little creepy hairy insects, spiders in all sizes, bugs, stick insects, scorpions, also snakes and worms… It was very funny to visit this fair in Yeovil, nearby Sherborne. After visiting the fair we decided that we have to learn and eat a roast Sunday dinner. Food everywhere… Oh my god, after a roast dinner you just want to take a nap and sleep the rest of your Sunday! A roasted dinner is a traditional in England, so they have this every Sunday! Well, I think I can get used to this…

Talk to you soon!
